Outdoor Playing Can Avoid Nearsightedness

Want your child does not wear glasses because his eyes were minus? Have more to play outside the home. So advice from experts Queensland University of Technology is the study concluded, playing outside the house reduces the likelihood of children experiencing farsightedness.

Researchers can not explain why it could happen, but chances are by playing outside, children do more physical activity and also got a bigger splash of sunshine.

Researchers in the city of Brisbane is currently doing research for three years to find a relationship outside the house playing with a lower risk affected by nearsightedness. Dr Scott Read is looking for children between the ages of 11 to 14 years, which has a normal eye and nearsighted.

"We need the kids to school because at that moment nearsightedness usually occurs." Dr Read said as quoted by the website of The West Australian.

He said among the population of Australia, the number of nearsighted patients is increasing, now about 20-25 per cent of adult Australians have myopia. In some Asian countries, the numbers are even close to 80 percent.

Dr Read had previously been involved in research which found that short-term changes in the eye when one is doing physical exercise. Therefore, this new research will want to know more definitely whether physical exercise to be a major factor, or because a person outside the room.

Brain Food is Good for the Baby

Growth period is the right time to maximize your child's brainpower. To support them, give them healthy nutrients that can be brain food.

Brain food can improve memory and skills, thus making the child more adept at memorizing or remembering things.

These nutrients may be brain food for children, as reported by boldsky.

1. Dairy products
Milk and other dairy products are a rich source of protein, calcium, potassium and vitamin D. All of these essential nutrients is the key source for the development of the neuromuscular system, neurotransmitters, enzymes and brain tissue. Children and adolescents in the age group of people who are in the process also requires these nutrients to grow.

2. All types of berries
Strawberries, cherries, blueberries and blackberries are known as 'brainberries' because this fruit provides almost all the essential nutrients to the brain. Berry fruit is a source of antioxidants and vitamin C which helps in reducing oxidative stress.

3. Eggs and nuts
Choline, one other important element for the development of memory stem cells that can be found in eggs and nuts. Choline may increase the production of memory cells in the brain stem, also minimizes fatigue. In addition, nuts and seeds are a source of vitamin D, which can reduce cognitive decline.

4. Whole wheat
Vitamin B and glucose found in grains such as brown rice and oat meal, thus making it a healthy brain food for children. The body needs a regular supply of glucose provided by the grain. Vitamin B improves blood flow to the nervous system is one major factor in keeping all the organs of the body to be active, including the brain.

5. Salmon
Fish with high levels of fats such as salmon is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA and EPA. This is an important nutrient for proper brain development. Research shows that people who eat fish have a sharper memory than those without.

Fetal Laser Surgery Can Separating Twins in the Womb

Treatment of identical twin pregnancies with the problem of joining blood vessels that supply food to the fetus can now be done with laser surgery. This technique is proven to save multiple births by 80 percent.

Laser surgery can now be a safe alternative to separate identical twins who have only one placenta in the same bag. This discovery may help doctors save the life of a twin fetus.

One baby (baby receiver) receives more blood flow, whereas the other (infant donor) gets too little blood supply. Meanwhile, the infant recipient becomes overloaded with blood, the tension caused by the baby's heart to pump more blood that can cause heart failure. Previously, the only solution suggested to overcome this complication is with abortion, but this is rarely done.

India has applied laser surgery for more than two years to save the twin fetuses of a state-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), which affects more than 15 percent of identical twin pregnancies.

"This is a rare condition in the case of identical twin pregnancies when the fetus is in a single bag. This makes both mutual struggle for the fetal nutrition. So while one baby gets more blood supply and nutrition, the other becomes too weak," said Anita Kaul, a consultant at Apollo Centre for Fetal Medicine, as reported from health.india, Tuesday (06/12/2012).

TTTS can be identified after 16 to 17 weeks of gestation. If confirmed, the doctor will decide where the separation of the laser procedure can be performed in the stomach only. While the blood vessels of two babies stay connected and both fetuses share the same placenta to supply nutrients from the mother's diet.

"Through foetoscope and laser rod, the blood vessels which joined inseparable. If done properly, this technique offers the possibility of 80 percent of the babies will be born safely," said Chander Lulla, consultant and specialist in fetal Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai.

Post-treatment, the baby's heart back into normal recipients, whereas donor babies begin to get the nutrients. Some of the challenges facing post-operative physician is premature delivery, infection prevention and health care of the twins.

Increasingly widespread in vitro fertilization (IVF) clinics also increase the occurrence of TTTS cases in pregnant women. IVF increases the chance of pregnancy identical twins suffering from TTTS can.

Daddy Love is More Important for Child Development

Most people think that a mother's love and care enough to care for and raise children. But it was the love of a father is also important for child development.

Researchers conducted a study of more than 10,000 men and women who reveal how a father who lives far away from keluraga or being cold to his son can damage a child's life.

Review of 36 studies have been conducted around the world concluded that a father's love for his children is as important as the love of a mother.

Researcher Professor Ronald Rohner stated that father love is the key to child development and hopes his findings will motivate more fathers to be involved in caring for their children.

"During this time the father thought that his position in the care of children is as financially support his family, but this is not necessary for the healthy development of children," said Professor Rohner as reported by the dailymail.

You have to start away from the faulty thinking and realize the influence of fathers on child development is very large, sometimes even larger than the mother. This conclusion came after Professor Rohner examined data from the study when the children and adults were given the question how great his love for his parents.

Based on the answers to the research participants, researchers can draw the conclusion that people who are less close to his father since childhood have a feeling more anxious, insecure, temperamental and aggressive.

Many behavioral problems due to the influence of his father the child ketidakdekatan that carry over into adulthood. The research was later published in the journal Personality and Social Psychology Review.

A father's love is as important as the love of a mother, even in some cases perhaps more importantly love's father. One reason may be the child more and more reluctant to honor a father figure.

So if the father did not try to close with his son and instead being cold, it will be more painful for mental health and child psychology. Attitude of rejection by the father in childhood have a strong and consistent effects on personality development.

"Children who feel unloved are likely to become anxious, insecure, triggering anger and hatred and can cause the child to shut down emotionally in order to protect themselves from further hurt," said Professor Rohner.

It can make a child's difficulty in socializing and forming relationships with others. Children can suffer from low self-esteem and difficulties to deal with stressful situations. Unlike the physically ill, people who have had psychological problems can relive the emotional pain caused even after many years.

Breastfeeding Can Rich Omega-3 If Mom Eat Fish

Currently in its infancy, nutrition is very important for infant development. Essential nutrients such as omega-3 is known to help brain development of infants. Omega-3 are found mainly in fish. One study found that mothers who eat fish have a lot of milk with omega-3 content is high.

Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh, Cincinnati Children's Hospital and an anthropologist at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) found that women in American Indian tribes have the milk that is rich in omega-3. Though Indians are economically poorer than other people in the United States.

The study, published the journal Maternal and Child Nutrition compared the fatty acid composition of breast milk of women in the United States and Indian tribes are named Tsimane. Tsimane tribe living in the Amazon jungle in Bolivia and consuming local food, meat of wild animals and freshwater fish.

The result, tribal women breast milk samples contained more Tsimane omega 3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) which is very important for cognitive and visual development of infants.

In addition, levels of DHA in breast milk did not decline after 2 years of birth. This period is the period in which the most optimal baby brain growth and absorb the DHA.

"The composition of fatty acids in breast milk varies according to the fatty acid composition of food and maternal fat stores," said researcher, Melanie Martin, a doctoral student in the department of UCSB antropolgi as reported by Science Daily, Tuesday (12/06/2012).

Comparison of omega-6 to omega-3 in women in the U.S. varies from 10: 1 to 20: 1, whereas the mothers in the Tsimane only 4: 1. This is presumably because the U.S. does not have fresh fish and the women who consume lots of processed foods rich in omega-6 and trans fats.

Levels of high omega-6 known to be associated with an increased risk of obesity, inflammation, cardiovascular disease and interfere with the processing of DHA and omega-3 fatty acids.

"On average, breast milk contains DHA in Tsimane 400 percent higher than the mother in Cincinnati. However, the average percentage of omega-6 and fat transnya 84 percent and 260 percent lower. While living in poor economic condition, the mothers in Tsimane produce milk with a composition more balanced and nutritious, "says Martin.

These findings highlight the importance of increasing fatty acid content in breast milk of mothers in the U.S.. Composition of fatty acids in infant formula should mimic breast milk composition in the Tsimane. Researchers also suggested that the baby is getting the intake of omega-3 fatty acids from milk which is naturally derived.
